Instead of the traditional Make my Monday list, I'm just going to share five photos that are making my Monday. 'Cause I'm lazy like that. And, 'cause every Monday needs a little Petey.





Oh, bonus Make my Monday thought! Today I discovered Pioneer Woman. Ok, ok, I'm sure I'm the last person on the planet to add this to her blog roll. Don't laugh! But just in case you are as out of the interwebs loop as I am, you must check out her site. She has all sorts of amazing photoshop tutorials that were written for photoshop dummies like myself. I can't wait to have 3 free seconds (or days) in which to try and figure these all out!

Make My Monday... Redux Style

Ok, let's pretend like I didn't skip Make My Monday last week (and on what would have only been its 3rd occurrence, my bad). While we are at it, let's go ahead and just forget about my entire lack of blogging last week also. I promise to be better. Or, if not better, at least better at being bad!!

Without further ado.... Make My Monday!

5. This week is going to be a 3.5 day week. Well, really it's 3.5 days in the office and 1.5 days driving to and attending a conference in another part of the state. It seems kind of silly to me, but if AmeriCorps really thinks it's that important for every single member in the entire state to get together for a meeting; that's fine by me. Less time in the office.

4. I finally unpacked from my trip last week. Whoops. The good news- I didn't in fact loose the card reader for my camera. The bad news- it took like 8 hours.

3. TWO (yes, two) of my lovely friends got engaged last weekend. Ok, well one technically got engaged and the other called to inform me that an engagement was forthcoming. Both called to warn me that I best be saving my dollars for bridesmaids dresses and booze (not necessarily in that order). Wooo hooo! Congrats, ladies!

2. NOAH'S TARP. I seriously just purchased the most bad ass thing ever created by man. Don't tell me that you have never heard of this? Ok, well check it out!


1. This weekend is Memorial Day, and you know what that means! Oh, you don't? Well, I'll tell you- Beach time! We are going to some beach that I know nothing about and staying in some campground that promises to be gloriously redneck (the name 'Blackbeard' is in the title), but whatevs. I'm going to lie on the beach and ready trashy novels all week. Speaking of trashy novels, anyone have any good suggestions?

I could seriously go on and on. Lots of good things have been happening lately, but I don't want to bore you!

Make My Monday... v2.0

OK, so it's Monday again. Why does that have to happen every damn week? It's not even noon and I've already eaten my lunch. Nothing is working and everything is broken and of course my boss thinks it's all my fault. Is it nap time yet?

I think I better go ahead and make my Monday with my weekly countdown of awesomeness...

5. I have a bit of a special outing planned for early this week. I'm not saying anymore lest I jinx it!

4. The new photos I took for GVV yesterday. My friends are such lovely models and we found a great location. I can't wait to get them up on Etsy!

3. I have had this awful cough for about three weeks now and I was worried I was dying of the consumption. While very romantic in theory, I'm not yet ready for my short life to end. Fortunately, I was diagnosed with walking pneumonia and prescribed an antibiotic. I'm fairly certain this is the only time 'fortunately' and 'walking pneumonia' have every been used together in a sentence. I am almost able to breathe again!

2. How about this for exciting... I'm having a two day week. I only have to work on Monday and Tuesday. And, Monday is almost halfway over, so that means my week is 25% done. So right now it is actually more like Tuesday morning than Monday afternoon. Clearly, this is going to be the best week ever. In case you are wondering why I am so lucky this week, its because...

1. I'm going on vacation! To my favoritest place on earth! My sister is graduating from Sewanee this weekend, the same university that I graduated from four years ago. And, lots of my other friends siblings are graduating, so they will be there also. And, my family will be there. And, I can go see my professors. And, there are lots of waterfalls to frolic in. And, it will be one big booze filled party time. I can't wait!

Very Important Update!

I just forced my roommate to look at my speaker/wire/record player set up and he fixed it and now both speakers are working. I swear I tried what he did and it just didn't work for me! I guess men were put on earth for a reason... other than to look pretty and torture me...

And, OMG, my favoritest song ever by the Talking Heads is now playing in surround(ish) sound on my new speakers via WNCW. Now my Monday really has been made!

Go ahead... make my Monday

Ok, so am I right or am I right? Monday sucks a big one. The weekend lulls you into a false sense of actually having control over your destiny, then BAM, Monday comes and you are back at work jumping through hoops whenever your boss lifts her little finger. In and effort combat the Mondays, I'm instituting "Make my Monday" here at the Green Violet. I'm going to list the top five things that I'm digging right now, things that put a spring in my step, things that make me smile a little inside, things that make my Monday just a little bit better.

So, without further ado, here is what is making my Monday this week (countdown style, I'm saving the best for last)...

5. Expanding my business a little. I just posted some vintage fabric at GVV, and there is more to come!

4. These veggie chip things that they have at rich people grocery stores. Seriously. MMMMMM.


3. Listening to the World Cafe on WNCW every night at 6. It never gets old and my love for David Dye only grows deeper.

2. The fact that my sister is graduating from college in two weeks. While this understandably freaks my shit out, it also means three days of vacation at my favorite place on earth, Sewanee.

1. This totally amazing old school record player and two speakers that I scored this weekend for free. FREE! See- volunteering (I prefer to call it forced labor) 9 hours of your time on a Saturday to help save the Earth actually pays off in more ways than just lack of sleep and growing animosity towards AmeriCorps! And, I even hooked up the speakers all by myself, sort of. I can only get one to work at a time. I seriously don't know how anyone survived when you had to hook up actual wires to every speaker in your house and you didn't even have a cell phone you could use to call product support! And, there probably wasn't even product support! It is yet to be determined if the record part actually works or not, as I don't actually have any records. I'm thinking my inaugural record purchase should be some Talking Heads. The radio sounds much better on this thing than my room mate's mini clock radio thing, though, so it was a great find regardless. I think I'm in love.
